On the Eastern coast of Oahu there is a beautiful, protected lava flow with healthy corals, calm waters and a beautiful view of the backside of Diamond Head. The range of colors of the corals and lava rocks in this area attracted my attention and eventually, inspired this painting. The transparency of the water and the colors of the cloud reflections on the surface of the distant ocean were two of the elements I wanted to explore and express.
